We've Been There!
Our own credit history and how we found freedom
We know most of the folks who come to our Web site are good, honest people who found themselves caught in a trap. Not long ago we were sitting where you are now, searching the internet late at night, praying for guidance. Our journey started harmlessly enough; we weren’t spending wastefully, but we were spending more than we were earning, confident that modest borrowings on our future earnings was neither unusual nor risky. Then our lives hit a bump in the road.
We had started setting some money aside, but we hadn’t been terribly serious about it. We were young — what could happen to us? Reaching for that money now, we found ourselves blowing through it so fast that it hardly made an impact. That’s when we got nervous. Out came the credit cards, and you know as well as I do that those credit limits don’t look so generous when you need to live on them. We also applied for several more cards “just to give ourselves some padding.” Before long, every card in our wallets was near its limit. The specter of bankruptcy began to appear.
There’s a tipping point beyond which nothing seems to work anymore – not transferring balances, not cutting back on expenditures, not putting off one payment in favor of another. Winning the Lotto starts to seem like a rational “business plan.” That’s where we were. We had trouble sleeping at night and more trouble concentrating at work, and if that’s how you feel right now, we understand.
We understand, too, how the very act of searching for options at this juncture is like reaching under a rock. You’re coming in contact with things that you didn’t want to know were there. And you’re right to cringe, because some of the choices down here are poisonous. But this is where our own story begins to take a turn. We were lucky.
We ran across an honest but obscure educational company working a niche of the debt servicing industry, but the program it was peddling was so unconventional that we felt compelled to do research before considering it. Not many people who are pressed to the point of needing a debt servicing plan have the leisure to do this kind of research — and the truth be told, neither did we. This is surely one of the reasons this wonderful company remained as little-known as it was. But the research we did changed the course of our lives. We not only felt comfortable choosing this company’s program, we became well-versed in other debt servicing plans along with the times and conditions under which each plan makes the best sense. Integrity Debt Solutions was born.
